This gorgeous blanket is a retro inspired, flower power feast of great big loopy flowers. I have chosen a 70s inspired palette of oranges, brown and gold, balanced out with some purples and greens. It’s kind of autumnal, which is great timing as we are just coming to the end of summer here in the UK. It’s funky, fun and a little bit psychedelic - groovy baby!
This 50 (yes, 50!) page pattern is packed full of detailed step by step instructions, with photos, showing how to make the larger and smaller flowers, and the beautiful tulip stitch border.
I am in love with these giant flowers, for so long I have wanted to make a blanket like this but could never quite find a pattern to match my imagination. So, I decided to have a go at designing my own! It took a few trials and was a real puzzle to start with, until I discovered the tight join as you go stitch which closes the gaps between the petals. Then I was flying, creating the blanket of my dreams! Believe it or not, it was the smaller squares that were harder to figure out.
When will you start growing your Groovy Garden….?
The pattern requires 15 balls of Yarnsmiths Create DK, available from Wool Warehouse. This is my go to yarn as it's soft and squishy and so easy to work with. It comes in such a lovely array of 200 gorgeous colours, in 100g balls, is 100% acrylic and has a very good price point. Yarnsmiths also have the same full range of colors in their Merino yarn, so can easily be substituted for a touch of luxury. The merino is available in 50g balls so double the quantity would be required. I have not been sponsored by Yarnsmiths - I just love their yarn!
You are purchasing the pattern only. When you checkout, you will receive an instant PDF download. Enjoy!
